How color in film affects your emotions-

Filmmakers use all types of color to manipulate your feelings to the film. Different colors show different emotions. Recently a more common color combo is the colors blue and orange, the two colors allow the actors to stick out more because skin tone normally falls into the category of oranges. The way filmmakers use color can change the mood of the film when tied with music. Romance and comedy tend to fall under the category of reds. Desaturated colors tend to fall under dystopian apocalyptic. Blue/Cold tones tends to fall under horror. Green/yellow fall under syfy. Yellow fall under desert films. Everything else falls under blue and orange. Color is important because if you were watching a horror film and it was bright and sunny vibrant reds and yellows you wouldn't get the same feeling you would if you were to watch a horror film with black dark blue colors. Different genres should assert different feelings and that is what the filmmakers are trying to do with the color grade too. Color impact how we feel without even knowing, just like the way a gross public bathroom makes you hesitant to use it. Culture and context have a big affect on the way colors impact our emotions too. Color can be added in digitally, photo chemically, or electronically. Overall color has more affect on our emotion than we will ever know.
