Product

For our final project we were instructed to get into groups of two and make a product/ box (that could be used for another use other then housing the product. So Wes and i decided to become partners. The first step was to pull of a sketch book and think of product ideas. Multiple ideas came up but we finally decided that a toy pizza was our favorite. So we search on the internet to find a picture of what our product was.  The product is targeted towards kids who like to play house or restaurant. So now that we had a product we had to think of a package design that would be able to double for another use. So we took to the internet and searched for some package designs and i saw a picture and it clicked for me. We decided to do a pizza box that doubles as a stove.

Inspiration from google

Our inspiration came from this picture. We decided that ours wouldn't be as complex as this picture but we would at least make the design a play stove that the kids could color in. So not only do they get the toy pizza the get a toy stove and be able to personalize it to their liking with colors they like.

The next step in our process was to find a picture on the internet of a pizza box and find a way to make it work for our product. So the first thing we did was cut out a shape about the size we wanted our pizza to be. So originally i tried to find something that i could trace and then cut out but we did a little more searching and found a plate and decided the cut out the center for the

measurements. So we took a ruler to find the measurements and wrote them down so we would be able to make our own temple on the computer. We took to our sketchbooks and wrote down our ideas for out product name, logo, packet design, colors, type, etc.. We wrote all the information down because it helps me visualize. We took our notes and sketched our ideas. As you can see in the picture on the right we also printed out the template to see if it would actually work. After we had made sketches and worked in the sketchbook i started to work on different ideas for the logo online and decided it would look very cool if i made the pizza like a plant and put our product name on the logo. While i was doing that Wes worked on the template. I messed around with different types around the logo until i found one i think looked the best. As you can see in the pictures we set up a cleaner version of what was in our sketchbooks on the computer to help us visualize. Wes sent his template over to me and we both started to work on package ideas. I started by making little ideas up in illustrator and messed around with it. When we liked something we would print it out and look at it not on the computer and look at the things we wanted to fix. we printed and made a ton of boxes and found little things to fix, Such as: not

 liking the colors, or type, or how it lines up.
So they whole design of the box happened like that. We also later on added on glue flaps to make the box more secure. Finally we saved the final design and put it in the folder to turn in.
